I'd like to request a portable version of 360 Browser. If a portable version cannot be made, could someone please provide a PortableApps.com Launcher.
360 Browser is a web browser powered by Webkit and IE web engines, so as to optimize the best webpage experience for you. It is fast, secure, and intuitive.
It hides unwanted advertisements and lets you focus on the web contents. Anti-phishing and malicious URL filtering features have intercepted over 10 billion threats.
More information about the program can be found here.
If there is no portable version, we can't make one :/
Sure we can, we do it all the time. I've got a fair bit on my plate at the moment, but maybe someone else will look into it.
Since when does PA.c make portable versions of non-portable programs?
Hmm. I only saw an .exe on the homepage, so I figured it won't be easy or possible. In this case I agree with you, but only because it is based on Chrome and just compressed in a .7z.
I can try making a portable version of 360 Browser if I don't have to use custom code or things I've never done before....
We've always made portable versions of non-portable programs. 7-Zip wasn't portable until 7-Zip Portable came along. Firefox was only kinda portable with a batch file until Firefox Portable came along. Chrome wasn't portable until Google Chrome Portable came along.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the information.
360 Browser (by default) installs to:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\360Browser\Browser\
In that folder, there are two folders:
Application (where the program files are)
User Data (where the user profile is stored)
The Application folder is structured like Chrome is:
7.5.1.116 (folder containing the browser)
Dictionaries (folder for translations, only contains en-US)
360browser.exe (the executable that launches the browser)
The program can be extracted using WinRAR, Universal Extractor or any other archiving program. The program's structure is much like Chrome, since it is based on that.
At the very least, all I need is a Launcher.
I tried to make a Launcher. Seems to be working fine. You can download it here.
I did not include the program files because it is not open source and I don't know if I am allowed to do that.
Download the program here and extract using Universal Extractor or WinRAR. This will present you with an archive named chrome.7z
Extract that archive and copy its contents to:
360BrowserPortable\App\360Browser\Browser\Application\
Then you can start the program using the Launcher I made.
Please make a post in the beta testing forum, following this format. You might want to look into the DownloadFiles section of the installer.INI file. I'll take a look at your launcher this evening.
Posted it in the beta testing forum here.
