portableapp platform

I like to express my disappointment that the promised more integration of portableapps into windows hasn't happened Sad

I (Ian) donated $100 when this was expected 2+ yrs ago ..

and I would have donated another 100$ when it was released

it was said that the code for win7 was nearly done.

win 7 is nilly finished and I'm starting to feel like I've bin screwed over!

Specifically?

If you mean the Windows 7 taskbar integration, which is the only Windows 7+ specific feature, it was completed but had to be pulled due to crashes within the component that was used. Once the platform codebase is moved up to Delphi XE7, it will be added back in. It was kept on Delphi XE2 for a time to maintain Windows 2000 compatibility. As that is no longer needed, it will be updated.

Also, please keep in mind that donations go mostly to funding hosting (server, bandwidth, etc) and other fees of that sort (code signing certificates, etc). Shortfalls in funding have been covered by me.

There is no free servers for open source projects? Why you pay money for this site? I know the free things are limited as functionality but we can use this money (donations ...) for other things...

Not Just Open Source

We don't just do open source software. About 1/3 of our apps are freeware, so we have to pay for the bandwidth on those downloads from Rackspace Cloud Sites+MaxCDN+Digital Ocean. SourceForge handles our open source download bandwidth for free but it's less reliable than our freeware downloads. The site itself runs over at RackSpace on a cloud server instance. It's very busy and I've not seen a free host that could handle the load our Drupal site generates with about 2 million unique visitors a month. We also have a content delivery network to speed up static image content with MaxCDN.
