Is there a sync-program being as fast and reliable as FreeFileSync having not less options?
I have tried the other PortApps sync programs, but they seem to be much more slower than FFS. E.g. Synkron looks very good, I have tried it over the last years a few times, but it always runs very slowy and unstable on my system. After starting a compare, sync or analysis the view becomes milky nothing seems to happen and after minutes a result is shown or you can see it running.
Unfortunately it does not appear there ever will be an update that makes FFS running (error message appearing after about version 6.2 or so) again on my system.
You can try Toucan (we're about to release a new version), Synkron, or just stick with FFS Portable 6.2, which still works properly when launched from menus and scheduling utilities. If 6.2 works for you just fine, there's no need to worry about upgrades for now. https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/freefilesync-portable

Hmmm, well, OK...many thanks for the link, John.

Me again, Dirki. Once again we have an app that works for other people not working on your system. Surely this is a clue to do some basic system hygiene?
BTW FFS is portable (not the PA way) or the PA way in which case the main functionality hasn't changed substantially since it stopped working under PA and similar situations.
JTH: not trying to resurrect FFS discussion so much as pointing out Dirki's system is appearing unwell

Is there some other app besides Synkron that's misbehaving? FFS doesn't count as it's behaving for this user as it is for most everyone.
Remember, FFS post 6.2 is broken for the majority of users that try to run it from another process (menu, scheduler, etc). It's just that most FFS users don't use it that way (they run it directly or from the Windows Start menu). The app itself, of course, not our package.

For Dirki, Yup

Hello Wm...,
Yes, yes, that indeed appears to be like you say. There is some unwellness going on on my system, but I have any idea what it is caused by. The same on another Notebook. Meanwhile I assume, just to many open / running programs at the same time on that trashy Notebook. I do not have any other idea.
FFS higher than 6.2 usually does not work independently how I start it. So when I click the exe file in its installation / main folder it won't start.

Very strange that the developper does not repair it.
