Adding Other Apps (XMind) to the PortableApps.com Menu

I read the instructions at https://portableapps.com/support/platform#addingotherapps so I could install XMind in my PortableApps menu. According to http://www.xmind.net/download/portable/ there is a portable version which I am already using and it works outside of my PortableApps installation. But I'd like it to work as a PortableApps app so that I've got everything in one place on my PortableApps menu.

I followed the instructions and copied the whole XMind directory structure to F:\PortableApps\xmind-7-update1-portable (where F: is my USB drive). I then click Apps > Refresh App Icons but the XMind app doesn't appear. This is just a guess, but I think it may be because the XMind.exe file doesn't reside in F:\PortableApps\xmind-7-update1-portable. It actually lives one directory further down in F:\PortableApps\xmind-7-update1-portable\ XMind_Windows

Is there a way I can tell PortableApps where to find the XMind.exe file so it appears in my PortableApps menu?

BAT File

1. Create a batch file in the root directory of the app to launch it.

2. When that is working correctly, use one of the utilities available, e.g. "Bat to Exe Converter" to create an exe file that the PortableApps Platform Menu will detect.

Easy

You get the outdated XMind Portable https://portableapps.com/node/26979, then the latest zip version from your linked homepage. Now you extract the Commons folder, XMind_Linux folder, epl-v10.html, lgpl-3.0.html and readme.txt into your App folder. And you replace the xmind.exe and xmind.ini in XMind_Windows with the latest versions. That's it Smile

Adding a "Symbolic Link"

This is my system to add any program to the PortableApps Menu

1- Add a folder on the "PortableApps" folder, and name as you want, for example I use "_Links", so it appears at the beginning...

2- Inside this folder, you have to add a "symbolyc Link" to the *.exe file you want to launch. The symbolic link can be rename what you want, but it have to end in ".exe" to be showed in the PortableApps Menu. There is no needed to move the whole program folder to the PortableApps directory. You can put in this folder all Symbolic Links aiming to the programs you want, and they will appear in "Others" category on the PortableApps Menu.

Symbolics links are kind of Shortcuts, with some peculiarities. See --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbolic_link

FileMenuTools is a great tool for create symbolic links. Its portable and you can download trhough PortableApps system but it is outdate, You can download a portable version from its site --> http://www.lopesoft.com/index.php/en/

I hope you find it usefull. sorry for my english
