Running and updating on Windows 10

I have a problem with PortableApps updating on Windows 10.
Even if I run as administrator it is very hit-or-miss whether an app will update (mostly miss).
Also the PortableApps no longer opens a file explorer window when the USB stick is inserted.
I have to manually open a file explorer window and click start.exe to run PA launcher.
At the moment I am downloading the updates to a folder and then manually updating them.
Is this some new security trick from Microsoft?

No Differences, Fully Compatible

The platform and installers operate no differently under Windows 10. I use them regularly. You should never need to run a PA.c installer as admin. If you do, it indicates an issue with the location being installed to... either a logical error, a physical error, or a permissions issue. Ensure you have checked the drive for errors and ensure you have "Everyone" set for "Full Access" in the Security tab for the whole drive otherwise it won't work as you move computers or when you upgrade your computer.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I have checked the drive for

I have checked the drive for errors, there are none, and ensured that the permissions are as you say, but I still can't get the PortableApps to open automatically as it used to.
I've backed up the whole drive so would it be worth reformatting and re-installing all the apps? Would my antivirus (Kaspersky) stop PortableApps from running when the drive is inserted?
This is a fairly new problem and I am not sure what to try.

Autorun?

If you're referring to autorun, that's been disabled by Microsoft for a long time: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/changes-in-autorun-feature-in-windows-7

problem with Win 10?

I know about autorun, but my problem is this......
In the past, when I inserted the PortableApps USB stick, a file explorer would open which let me doubleclick start.exe.
This no longer happens, and I don't know why. Can anyone suggest a plan of action?

AutoPlay

It's called autoplay and this is how you turn it on or off in Windows 10: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7119-autoplay-turn-off-windows-10-a.html

Note that if this does not work, something is wrong with Windows and you'll need to get support for that elsewhere. Windows 10 is pretty buggy.
