Hi !
Recently i tried to update Google Chrome Portable... Using 2 ways... With no result !
I first tried the standard procedure through the PortableApps local menu : "Applications > Check Updates...".
In almost no time i got a long error message (my interface is a French one !) :
"Le fichier téléchargé de Google Chrome Portable (https://redirector.gvt1.com/edgedl/release2/11sx7qq3lmncwfwkxnj8si8rq6me...) n'est pas valide et ne peut être installé. Cela peut être dû à un téléchargement incomplet ou à un autre problème de réseau. Veuillez recommencer le téléchargement."
Then i tried this second method :
- download the update file (GoogleChromePortable_51.0.2704.84_online.paf.exe) from the PortableApps site : ok !
- install the application through the PortableApps local menu : "Applications > Install an application..."...
And i got the message : "La copie téléchargé de Google Chrome (Stable) n'est pas valide et ne peut être installé. S'il vous plaît réessayer de le réinstaller."
So what next ?
Is it a known problem ?
Thank's in advance for your answer/suggestion !
Cheers,
It's working without issue here. When you download that linked file yourself, how large is it and what is the MD5 sum of it? You can use something like WinMd5Sum Portable to check it. It should be 1562f6e389f5ff7d914dc2a8b4051b78. The error you are seeing from both the updater and from the installer means that the file it downloaded isn't the one it is expecting, so the MD5 is off. Causes can include an incomplete download from Google that is cached at your network level (many ISPs cache certain files to save themselves network congestion), a local issue on your PC (virus or hard drive errors), the publisher serving a different file based on your location (we've seen this with Skype but not with Chrome), or a 3rd party interfering with your network and attempting to serve you an invalid file.

Hi,
I have the same issue/error message and it is linked to my antivirus (Avira) which seems to corrupt the downloaded file. If I stop Avira, the update installs with no problem
I would like to add the update URL as an exception "not to scan" . Could someone please tell the the exact URL used by the updater?
Thanks
It downloads directly from Google with an address starting with https://dl.google.com
