For years I've used dsCrypt on my flash drives. It's incredibly fast and simple to use. Until
recently, dsCrypt was all I needed.
I want to protect a couple of very important business related folders. dsCrypt cannot encrypt
folders, so I need an app that will lock a folder with password protection.
After a quick Google search, I found Cr!ptAES. The reviews say it can encrypt files and folders.
I cannot change hundreds of filenames, so Cr!ptAES must prevent a folder from opening without
a password. Is that what it does?
As you can see from the link below, Cr!ptAES provides a drop-down menu with many different
encryption options like AES, Blowfish, etc. I've read a couple of articles about the "best encryption
algorithms." All methods seem very secure, but I'm definitely not an encryption expert. Does it
matter which method I select from the menu?

I'd prefer a folder encryption app with the same simplicity provided by dsCrypt. Is there an app for
folders similar to dsCrypt? If not, Cr!ptAES is probably a good choice.

You could always try Veracrypt, which allows you to create an encrypted container, to which you can store folders/files inside of. Its also packaged as a portableapp as well https://portableapps.com/apps/security/veracrypt-portable
what abt this one?

If you google "password protect folders" you'll find a long list of apps. The mistake I made was using
"encryption + folder" in my original search.
I was encrypting all my business related files with dsCrypt. If my flash drive was lost or stolen the
filenames could be seen by anyone, even though all the data was encrypted. That's what I want to
prevent.
Wise Folder Hider_v4.17.153 has mostly very positive reviews. There is a portable version. The pro
version (not free) encrypts the files inside a folder. It requires two passwords. One logs into the app
and the other hides and unhides a folder.
