I tested RenamerPortable. Now I have:
\Data\Presets
\Data\settings
\Data\Presets\ExamplePreset.rnp
\Data\settings\ReNamerPortableSettings.ini
\Data\Settings.ini
By comparing this structure to the developer original program structure, I can understand that
\Data\settings
\Data\settings\ReNamerPortableSettings.ini
is not Renamer settings, but settings added by PortableApp.
Wouldn't it better to have different folders:
AppData (=settings managed by program)
PortableAppData (=settings managed by PortableApp)
?
Another thing, is the names of the directories.
(">" = is better than)
RenamerSettingsFiles > RenamerData > AppData > Data
The more specific name can make it easier to learn PortableApp without need to read PortableApp Help.
The Data folder is universal for all portable apps in PA.c Format. Having it a different name for each app would break the easy ability to back all your data up across apps with the platform.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
1. The idea of separating App settings from platform settings.
2. Changing the Folders name to a more specific name.
Needless to say, it's to consideration only when preparing to a Major Update (Like Firefox Major Update).
