Eraser Drop didn't install correctly - Something strange happened after the install

I installed Eraser Drop and after it finished installing, I didn't receive any type of error at all. In fact,I believe my memory serves correctly and a message said after it finished installing that it completed the installation (or something to that affect).

I went to open the app in the PortableApp.com platform and nothing happened. Then I noticed the Eraser Drop icon appeared to be sitting on my desktop. I checked to see if it mysteriously installed on my hard drive but didn't see it listed with my other Programs under Control Panel. I came to realize that the appearance of the icon being on my desktop was incorrect. The icon only actually looked like it was there. It actually floats on what ever application I have open and running ,e.g., the browser, website pages, or basically any Windows application I have open.

I installed this app just like I have installed every other app I did in the past using the portableapps.com platform.
I'm running Windows 10 Redstone 5 ver 1809

Any help would be appreciated
I don't think I've ever seen something like this.
Thanks

App Description

Please read the app description on its homepage here: https://portableapps.com/apps/security/eraserdrop-portable

It's a drop target to shred files. You right click to control it. It's working as intended.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Just Drag the Files/Folders to the 'Icon' and Drop Them In

In case you're not clear on what John is trying to say and, I have to say, the instructions aren't very clear either. To use EraserDrop just select whatever files/folders you want to securely wipe and then drag and drop them into what you are calling the 'icon' on your Desktop. (Just like you can do with dropping files/folders into Windows Recycle Bin.)

Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.

The readme file isn't clear when app launches from menu

What I'm gathering then the app installed the way it is supposed to. When I installed the Eraser app the day before, it launched a UI, something that Eraser Drop does not. I wasn't certain if right clicking the icon actually configured the number of passes I wanted, or if the app never installed properly. I'm glad you spelled out where to drag the files 'To' that I want to erase. I wouldn't have figured it out from just reading the readme file.

The issue has nothing to do with 'How' to use Eraser Drop

When I clicked on the app to launch it from the platform, the only thing that opened was a Read Me file. It's just that I've never seen a portable app launch this way.
