First of all, let me say that I love portable apps. I recently got a USB 2.0 TB drive and I wanted to install portable apps on it. I work as a volunteer at 2 local seniors residences and for some of them, Portable Apps does just the ticket. I was wondering if the problem is the default format is exFAT? I would really love to install Portable Apps onto this thumb drive.
Thanks,
Lary
Lary, I have been trying many times to install the basic download on my ADATA UV128 32GB usb3 thumb drive. The SHA256 hash matches, so the installer file must not be corrupted. My latest procedure on a Dell laptop running Windows 10 is to format the usb drive to FAT using Windows, leaving the drive in place, and running the downloaded installer. The install fails at Extract: PortableApps.com executable. The drive recently performed well as a live USB stick with Ubuntu on it, suggesting that the drive itself is ok.
Is it possible to locate an earlier version of Portable Apps to see if that one will work? Appreciatively, Lee
I have solved my own problem. Trouble was indeed with my thumb drive. Thanks to any who may have taken interest! L
