Stickies 10.0d Issues with non-English x64 bit Operating Systems

Hello PA team and users !

Sometimes, I like to make tests, to discover bugs or missing features, etc.. Now, it's about Stickies:

Stickies (and Skinner) may encounter some problems when run on x64 operating systems:

1. Stickies:

  • In the x86 bit (french) OS: it works like a charm !
  • In the x64 bit (french) OS: I get this error → "Error 14001 loading language100.dll". Then the app runs in English.

2. Skinner:

  • In the x86 bit (french) OS: it works like a charm !
  • In the x64 bit (french) OS: I get a different error message → "The application has failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." which means the same thing as the stickies' error (according to this tool) !

Remark:
Adding the language file manually did not solve the problem, the language100.dll is just vanishing.

The Solution:
According to the developer (and his Help Section) via the two following articles ↓↓

Installing Visual C++ 2008 (x86) fixes the two problems.

PS.

  • The instructions above are about Stickies, downloaded from the official site or portableapps.com (run inside the platform).
  • StickiesPortable_*.paf.exe is still buggy if run outside the platform.

Try This

Please try this test build after having uninstalled the C++ runtimes you mentioned on the affected systems. It should fix the issue.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks

Sorry, I haven't noticed that my post has been moved (not deleted). Just found it here at random. Anyway..

Thanks a lot for the quick reply, I've tested in the same machine I've used last time, after uninstalling the C++ runtimes: same issues as previously !

PS. It's just a feedback, nothing is urgent !
