Thunderbird still supported

Hi,

The portable version of Thunderbird is pretty old. Is it still supported in the sense that there will be updates coming, or should I look somewhere else?

Thanks

Thunderbird is being worked on

Thunderbird is being worked on, as indicated here.

There were some issues with changes made to the base app that were difficult to portabilize, but a new version is coming.

When is this coming? Specific date? You have to warn users to look for other alternatives, because we are waiting and nothing.

We can't give a date if we don't know it ourselves.

The portabilization issue was a huge unknown, and then John was in hospital with the virus. He is still catching up on everything.

I certainly couldn't have taken over the release - I don't know Thunderbird's workings well enough, plus I am too busy trying to not end up homeless in a country where I barely speak the language.

Use and Autoupdate Locally

You can use and auto-update Thunderbird Portable it in the meantime but note that your extensions and calendars will not be portable, they'll break as you move machines as Firefox extensions did before I updated the Firefox Portable launcher. Other portablized versions of Thunderbird are illegally packaged and should not be trusted. They're also not portable as they don't portablize extensions and calendars properly.

I'm working on it today but a little tired from donating convalescent plasma antibodies yesterday. My top priority at present is getting money to pay rent and treat my cat.

Trouble with Thunderbird 68.10.0

Hiya

So I downloaded and upgraded my Thunderbird portable to 68.10.0 but when I open it I am presented with a blank interface (No folders, or messages ). I downgraded to 60.9.1 and that is working fine. How can I resolve this?

Profile Issues

There's likely something incompatible in your profile. I'd suggest making a backup and disabling all extensions before upgrading then enabling one at a time. This wouldn't be something specific to the portable version.

Sorted sort of

Hiya John

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried what you suggested but still ended up with a blank interface. I have done a fresh install instead and that is working fine.
