which & how to install java stuffs to use Libre or OpenOffice?

I have 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

If I want to use LibreOffice,
is jPortable what I would also install ( https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable_64 )
to ( X:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java )
for the portable equivalent of (Ctrl+F) Windows Offline (64-bit) @ https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp ?
My locally installed Java should be uninstalled before? (OR AFTER OK?) above step?
I noted that [APACHE] OpenOffice.org should be installed to X:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable ... would LibreOffice also be installed to same directory?

I'm just an enduser, not any kind of developer. So do I need these 2? How & when to use them:
jPortable Launcher - Run Java JARs portably https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable_launcher_64
&
jPortable Browser Switch - Enable or disable jPortable's Java browser plugin https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/jportable-browser-switch

THANKS,

MikeSG

Hi sweepsnregs

Hi sweepsnregs

The paf platform is a really nice approach to portable apps but you do want to set things up properly - here's what I'd do. Carefully read the LibreOffice Description to decide whether or not you want/need java. I would also consider adding the fonts.zip, you might also want to add ghostscript.

Disable or (remove your locally installed java if you want to), disabling java in your browser's options (plug-ins) should be enough. Follow the jportable browser switch link above for instructions for your browser. Confirm local java is disabled.

Install LibreOfficePortable to X:\PortableApps\LibreOffice
If you want OpenOffice -> .... X:\PortableApps\OpenOffice

You want to install java & ghostscript in X:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\
................................................................ X:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Ghostscript
................................................................ X:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java64

IIRC you'll need to point LibreOffice to the portable java from within LibreOffice settings, not sure about OpenOffice.
The additional fonts are handy but not needed, the instructions are on the LibreOfficePortable page - pretty easy to unzip to the proper locations. I would then install the browser switch and launcher.

Again, java, ghostscript, and the fonts are not needed but are handy and will provide a more robust setup, I would simply disable or remove the locally installed java first, disabling it should be enough. Make sure to add java and ghostscript to \CommonFiles, and you should be good to go.
