I have an idea about the portable application directory . Maybe the developers could consider to set up a channel where the user can search , download , install and upgrade the testing but not official maintain software. On the one hand, users would have a chance of using more software thought they are mayb unstable, on the other hand , developers will have a more convenience way to attract user to test the software.

"in former days..." when PortableApps.com had a much more active community, the Test releases directory was more or less well maintained.
Now this list is heavily outdated, to some extend because there is no active mod to maintain it. On the other hand, the beta forum only has a few actively maintained development test apps nowadays so I see no benefit to pick this up.
People use more and more portable devices these days, so the need to have apps on a usb-drive, once (or still) the main purpose of PA.c, fell behind a little bit, hence the reduced activity here. Maybe
