Is it possible to edit an existing EXE file?(without source code). I have already tried Universal extractor and it did not work

Yes and no.

IIRC, a program called Resource Hacker lets you modify text strings and image files, but anything more advanced would probably require a decompiler.

And you can't decompress an executable with something like Universal Extractor; UPX will compress an application to make it take up less space, but that's something else entirely.

"anything" is a too big word. Sometimes you can do much more advanced mods w/out decompilation. But usually it is needed.
And you can't decompress an executable with something like Universal Extractor
Truth.
UPX will compress an application to make it take up less space, but that's something else entirely.
