I'm just getting into Obsidian and wanted to see if there was a PA version; so far, installer seemed to work fine and did a manual Check for Updates to see if the underlying app would update on its own. It did, so now running 1.3.5, seemingly with no issues.
Thumbs up from me.
when I try to go to sttings i got freezed blank screen
I have released a more updated version here: https://portableapps.com/node/69293
My GitHub repo: https://github.com/Papela/Obsidian-Portable
Thanks for your good work, papela. Can you say more about the difference between your 2 versions of the portable on git? THanks
stunning - 189 - thank you - so quick
Fully updated and properly packaged version here: https://portableapps.com/node/71812
I have installed Obsidian from the link above on my USB while on my Windows 11 machine. Works great! However, I am planning to use the USB on Ubuntu? Will this work?
Portable Apps are designed for Windows. Some of them may run on linux via Wine.

On Linux, you can use the official AppImage version of Obsidian:
https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-releases/releases/download/v1.9.1...
you removed the full paf and only left the online paf? thanks for your work.
Yes, I removed the offline package because:
* Obsidian’s license doesn’t allow redistributing its binary directly.
* PortableApps.com prefers online installers that download from the official source.
* It keeps the installer smaller and always up to date.
* It’s safer and avoids checksum or trust issues.
Great work! Thanks. How do I update the portable version without losing any data from the existing portable version? Do I just install it into the folder of the already existing Obsidian Portable? Will that replace any of my personalized/customized settings?
Thanks!
Yes — you can safely install the new version into the same folder as your existing Obsidian Portable.
Your personal settings, vaults, and data are stored separately in the
Datafolder, so they won’t be affected or overwritten during the update. You can also use the “Check for updates” option inside Obsidian’s settings to update it more easily.
grasp on portable obsidian. would you be willing to take a look at one of it's alternatives. logseq?
https://github.com/logseq/logseq/actions/workflows/build-desktop-release...
the new database branch will likely exit alpha soon, but it's already pretty stable. and it's local first, sql backend, and very intuative.
would be great to see a portable from you. and it's open source, so you could do a PAF
thanks so much if you could consider
I created the portable version of Logseq:
https://portableapps.com/node/79536
Dear @gipper
Please test Logseq portable
I will look, thank you! -- but I have a concern -- this doesn't appear to be Build-Desktop-Release #2010, the link I provided, which is the only one I'm interested in -- the database branch, the next generation of the app. The existing markdown app is old and less scalable, and lacks many of the next generation tagging and query features-- https://github.com/logseq/logseq/actions/workflows/build-desktop-release... It is still in alpha so there's no released zip, but you can get it from that link, selecting the latest desktop build, windows x64, going to 'upload artifacts', and getting that zip. It has the MSI.
