Hi
this is a great tool to execute (bulk) rename of files and folders. Can someone help me to get it available in PortableApps?

No thoughts? would be so great if this could be part of PortableApps
We already have Ant Renamer and ReNamer. Does this have any features that aren't already covered by those two?
Given the additional workload to keep new apps updated we try not to add duplicate apps, unless they offer significant functionality not already available.
I love bulk rename utility! It's one of my favorite software, and one of the first things I install on a new system.
I don't know if it has features the other two portable apps don't have, but I do recommend it for anyone who renames files a lot.
Would love see this added too! BRU is great, there was a Dev version released a while ago, which does seem to work well; https://portableapps.com/node/35629
Another vote for Bulk Renamer. It is my most favorite tool in the category.
If you, friends, like this app. At least give a reason, of what is it different!

Bulk Rename Utility (BRU) vs Renamer Lite (RL) & Ant Renamer (AR)

1. With BRU, you have a LIVE PREVIEW of ALL the applicable rules and the result on ALL affected files. Not with AR where you can preview only 1 file (the 1st file of the set). The rule may not apply to that 1st file. And when you deal with hundreds of files, there is always a risk of a renaming rule gone wrong.
2. With BRU, you can have as many rules as you like. Not with RL where you are limited to 5 rules.
3. With BRU, when you edit the rules, you can preview the result at the same time. Not with RL where you can only preview after editing a rule. If a rule is not right in RL, you have to go back to the rule editing window, accept and preview again. It's just much more convenient with BRU.
4. With BRU, all the rules are laid in front of you. Not with AR where rules are separated, unclear how the rules will be applied and interact with each other.
5. With BRU, you can run all rules at the same time. Unclear if you can run multiple rules at the same time with AR. Even if so, it's very hard to manage because each rule view is separated.
Hi pasuperdude,
I used BRU some years ago but switched back to AR because It fits my needs way better - I do complex renaming in seperate steps and find the gui of AR more appealing for that. The cluttered BR all in one gui just got in my way. If I recall correctly I still had to do several steps and had to swicth between the different areas. But that is just my personal preference.
I understand why some people like the all in one window gui.
If I find the time, I may have a look at it.
Or you could better post an update question at darksabre76's dev test thread. He still seems to be at least a reading member of this forum.
btw. Ant Renamer provides a complete preview. You just have to click on the preview button.
Thanks depp.jones,
I agree it is a personal preference. Ant Renamer (AR) and Renamer Lite (RL) are certainly solid tools in this department. I leave it to you and other devs to decide. I will ask darksabre76 too.
