Why encouraging developers to submit new launchers?

Outdated Official Portable Applications always claims "Pre-Releases and Other Test Versions" are "None" even though Test Releases is full of programs.

The last entry in that page is from 2019 and none of the comments get any reply, so why encouraging developers to submit new programs if they have zero chance to get accepted and also no chance to even get listed?

Official

The Outdated Official Portable Apps thread's Pre-Releases and Other Test Versions is for official pre-release and test versions. So, if there's an app we want to officially release and we want to do one last test of or if an existing app has a major update and we want to test out a customized upgrade process with more users rather than just me testing it.

The Test Releases thread isn't monitored at present as I'm the only one working on moving new apps forward after the releases team moved on years ago. And my time is stretched thin between running the servers (download, LAMP stack, mySQL, CDN, etc), developing the platform/installer, maintaining the Drupal install, etc when I'm not caring for my ailing father and trying to make some money here and there.

You do above and beyond

Could you maybe enlist volunteers for this? Assuming people could start to submit again, maybe a voting system could assist choosing which of the entries to push forward.

About money, I think I once sent you an unreplied proposal about ads. I'm open to offer you interesting opportunities.

Volunteers, Email

We haven't had any volunteers in a while. I would like to revamp submissions and ask for new volunteers when I have time. I don't at the moment with everything going on with my Dad.

I don't think I saw the email you're referencing. Searching my email store, I only see one from you in 2018 about a site that needed assistance.

I've recently moved back to a

I've recently moved back to a dual-boot Ubuntu/Windows laptop after years on a Mac, so I'm available to help with testing and potentially even updating apps again.

My only limitations on time and input are due to mental health problems from ongoing unemployment and being stuck somewhere I don't call home since last year. So can't always guarantee I am available, but I will try.

Yourself First

Thanks Ken. Please be sure to look after your mental health first and financial health. I say this as someone in treatment for depression and ADHD. I'll let you know when I can get things rolling.

I've just sent a LinkedIn connect request

I think I sent it through my previous work mail. Please approve the LinkedIn request as maybe it'll be better to just talk there directly.

Although now I wonder which site needed improvement.

Time opening up in approx. 1 year

I'm currently focusing much of my energy, when I'm not spending it working (we're quite short-staffed at the moment, but that should change soon-ish) & trying to have a tiny bit of family life, on rapidly completing a BSc Comp. Sci. degree (only 14 years after society says is normal!). I anticipate finishing up in approximately 1 year, at which point my staffing concerns should be significantly lessened as well, and I can re-dedicate time and efforts towards here, beyond the very limited help I have been.

Until then, however, so long as nothing's extremely time-sensitive, I'm happy to help where I can, just let me know (likely easier to do via email). Alternately, we could chat on slack if yourself, Ken, lwc & I all want to discuss together rather than one-on-one.
