I am thankful that portableapps has Darktable, but it's missing digiKam which would be very helpful. Both programs are for photography but serve completely different goals. Darktable is more of an adobe Lightroom replacement for editing/composting, But digiKam is more of an adobe Bridge replacement for image management & tagging.
Darktable is basically focused on image manipulation with a barely passable image management function, and digiKam is mainly an image management program with a rudimentary image manipulation function. They really are two sides of the coin and having them both on a usb/portable drive would be *very* helpful when traveling.
Would be nice to have it in portableapps format.
great/nice pro opensource pic management with editing, multisys and 25y of improvement.
it also has AI metadata enrichment! 3-4updates/year, continiuing dev since 25y, easily handle over 100,000 images, efficient editing workflow, batch processing, calendar search, dark theme.
its 2lines app request, as poster missed, feature summary(12points)...
https://www.digikam.org/about/features/
if request would be in requested format, had better chances.
otherway, we have propably similar app, but if not opensource i would plead maybe change to this great app.

This has been requested a few times over the years. The big issue was that it was installing the whole KDE Windows environment with the app since it was so tightly integrated, which makes it huge. I checked now and it's a 205MB download with an 854MB install size. 10 years ago we wouldn't have touched that but today, it's a bit more of a possibility. Adding the 3 recommended add-ons on first launch will add another ~900MB to the install size.
It's now Windows 10/11 64-bit only. It stores settings in the following locations (slash at the end indicates folders):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\digikam\
%LOCALAPPDATA%\digikamrc
%LOCALAPPDATA%\digikam_systemrc
%APPDATA%\digikam\
Wherever your pictures are that you'll be managing (doesn't have to be local Pictures folder):
%PICTURES%\.dtrash\
%PICTURES%\digikam4.db
%PICTURES%\recognition.db
%PICTURES%\similarity.db
%PICTURES%\thumbnails-digikam.db
Registry:
HKCU\SOFTWARE\cathaysia.digikam.flowview
HKCU\SOFTWARE\kde.org\digikam
The launcher will likely need custom code to handle updating the multiple SQLite databases in addition to the standard stuff.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
In case it helps, launching digiKam with the --config and --database-directory parameters allows you to pretty much make digiKam portable. This was courtesy of a moderator in the digiKam sub-reddit.
no worries, rather my support/voice/recommendation than big request.
kinda less prio as for me.
