"Email button"? And what would that do exactly?
Also I don't think John would "add" stuff because this isn't really "his" program. I do hope you know where this link goes...
Oh and PortableApps only releases stable versions of existing applications. The latest version is "Gran Paradiso" 3.0 alpha 5 as of this writing.
Do you want to open mailto-links in your email proggy?

I mean there is no button on the toolbar to launch outlook express like the install version of firefox-there is a little icon to read mail....
There is NO email button in a standard install of Firefox OR Firefox Portable... it's not even in the options. You must have added it yourself by adding an extension.

Look at this screenshot-it is there...

It is *NOT* in a base install of Firefox or Firefox Portable. *YOU* added it either with an extension or that custom theme you added (which isn't part of Firefox either). So, however you added it last time, YOU have to add it again.

Whatever - it is not an extension it is there on all themes-had to customize the toolbar but it was in there.....I just looked at it on my windows ME machine and it is there as well.
do you use?

If you do View -> Toolbars -> Customize there is no "mail" icon to pick from using the base install therefore it's added by something you added...extension/theme/whatever.

Actually Buddha,
If he is using the extension "Toolbar Buttons" and follows your instructions he will see a "Read Mail" icon.
It will also show up on right click tool bar, customize. The extension throws all it's extra tool/icon options into the customize area. It's a great little extension. If he is not using it I have no other idea where it came from

I said "base install" implying no extensions installed...plain...vanilla..

Yes, yes you did.
I was just saying that if he looked at it "now" [and had the extension in question] he would see what he expected to see.
I just did not envision that he would go thru a "base install" to check it out.
No offense was intended.

Earth,
Please tell us ALL the extensions/add-ons that you DO have installed on the machines that Do have the mail icon.
Do you have an extension called "Toolbar Buttons"?

Earth,
It is obvious from your screen shot that you do not have a standard install of FF. My Add-Ons [note yours is called Extensions] looks completely different than yours.
Your FF has been very customized. I am betting that one of the extensions/add-ons that you do have installed is what is giving you the Mail button.
If you disable your extensions or start FF in safe mode I am guessing you will not see it.

Actually, the window was called 'extensions' in 1.5. So he's just using an old version. Maybe 1.5 had a mail button. I don't remember.

Yes that version is 1.5 - 2.0 does not include that button?
Nope. Absolutely does not.

Ok thanks solved then! But why dont they incude that button?
Why would they?
Is that a real question or are you just a troublemaker? Why not? How are you supposed to check your email without going to all programs and selecting outlook express and besides all previous versions of firefox had it!
Go ask the Firefox developers why they removed it. I'm sure you have an excellent reason to get them to put it back, despite the fact that they removed it after all that planning and designing and committee meetings. Stop whining here; this isn't John's or anyone-here's problem and I doubt it will be for a while.
Close this thread please. Thank you.

Problem was answered. No mail button exists in 2.0.
