Hey.

Even though this is the Request Apps forums "therefore i was thinking if mozilla firefox the only web bowser available." will not do. Was that a question, or did you mean "therefore i was thinking if mozilla firefox the only web bowser available, then I think OPERA should be another portable browser." This has been suggested MANY times. Search this site, for Opera and you will find multiple results. A search should always be done before a post. You will find links to a portable version of Opera, and many reasons why it will not be made portable here. I believe Opera is propitiatory (I believe), and all the apps on this site are open-source. Firefox is a very decent browser, and no other is really needed, for a lighter weight one, John Haller (the creator of these apps) has mentioned he was working on K-Meleon. For future requests, a link the the application, the license of the application, as well as a description are all requested or you will not get much interest.

It's okay.

It's okay. No harshness intended, I was just saying to use the serach function (top right) before you post next time. It's okay, the first time none of us search.

a quick search on google

a quick search on google yielded this:

http://www.opera-usb.com/operausben.htm

[Updated to actual link by moderator JTH]

It says it comes under an open source license, but I haven't downloaded and checked that the source code is included.

Yabbut....

...it also has to be LEGAL, and w/o being open-source, it ain't. Not here, anyway.

Until/unless it goes open-source, the best we can do is either

1) Use one of the current portable Opera options on our own (Opera-USB, or Kejut's portable version of Opera),

or else

2) Have someone here build/host a *launcher* for the standard Opera that you get from Opera.com

Opera launcher

I've just made my own OperaUSB launcher. It works with PortableAppsMenu! If I've put it to folder \PortableApps\PortableOpera, downloaded operausb to folder: \PortableApps\PortableOpera\opera

It works, without the opera souce code modification.

I've got the similar "launchers" to inkscape, and "tlen" - polish communicator (like Miranda)

You only need a starter...

not a launcher, if You use opera925@usb.. https://portableapps.com/node/10495#comment-61573 follow the instructions and You can use it with PAM. No need for playin around. Since opera is closed source You won´t find a true PortableApps version here. "Portable opera" install pack as offered from certain non official download sites is illegal. You´ll have to compose it Yourself..
So, back to the original post: FirefoxPortable is the only opensource browser released here as stable app. Others are available in the ßrelease forum. Smile
