Let me state up front that I'm first asking if anyone can even tell if making POV-Ray portable would be possible in a legal sense. I've read the distribution license (http://www.povray.org/distribution-license.html), and making it portable and redistributing it as a portable app might not even be allowed. However, looking at the source license (http://www.povray.org/source-license.html) makes it sound like it *would* be allowed as an experimental modification, and therefore legally doable. So, source is available and it is certainly free to download and use, but I'm not sure if it matches the intended open-source and free definitions in any sense that would make it a candidate for portableapps.com.
That out of the way, I have looked for a portable version already. I couldn't find anything on Google, and didn't find any reference to the app in the forums here. Can anyone who is better at reading licenses check out the POV-Ray licenses and tell if it could legally be made portable? And then if it could, is anyone able to give a guess to the difficulty of doing so and likelihood that it would happen?

...a free ray-tracing tool. I apologize for not spelling out what it is. I figured anyone who looked at this and wasn't already familiar would be able to figure out the domain (http://www.povray.org) for more information from looking at the licenses I linked to. If I make app requests in the future, I'll be sure to include more details.

I often use POV-Ray on my machines... - ...but i'm also often "not at home, but visiting my family", where i also would like to go on raytracing using POV-Ray... - Mostly i don't get the allowance to install it, 'cause it's "big", if you install it on Windows-machines... - It includes hundrets of example-Scenes by default...
What about PVM-POV Portable ? - As i sometimes run more than 4 machines at once, rendering Frames for Animations, i wonder if running a PVM-supporting portable POV-Ray wouldn't speed up render times without complicating the progress for me...
Hello to all...
I've asked Gilles Tran for if he knows exactly, if someone may port POV-Ray... - He is a Member of the POV-Team, so i thought, he would... - ...but he told me to first read the POV-Ray Distribution License, which is online at http://www.povray.org/distribution-license.html , and then, if my question still remains unanswered, send an eMail to the contact adress provided within the License... - As my English ain't that good, i'm possibly not the best person for reading the License in order to find out, if someone may port POV-Ray to a Portable App... - So, i'll simply send that eMail to the provided adress to ask for legallity...
I'll tell you more, when i have an Answer...
