Hello all,
I don't know if such a topic has been discussed before. I search the topic discussed so far but could not find a close match to my request. My challenge is that I am developing a web browser application that can used to request data from USB human interface device (e.g. USB data acquisition device). My appication is a web page that access the USB device via an activeX control.
At the moment I have tested my web page with IE7 and it works only when i sign in as administrator. I inturn to store the web page in a flash drive and let it operate like a Portable App. I having some doubts how this can be do, since the activeX control in the page has to be register on the PC for it to work.
Is there a way to use the activeX control on the web page avoiding registration in the registry? My aim is enable standard user (with no administrator privilege) to configure his device avoiding windows security setting. According to me, this can be good means for developers to save money buying authenticodes from certificate authorities (CA).
My web page and activeX control is not harmful. I can send it to any body who is interested to compile it to a portable app. I went through the portable app template, but could not understand any thing. I will welcome any suggestion how to go about with my worries. Thanks in advance.
Lawrence

Admin privileges are required to register ActiveX controls.
