My firefox portable on my hard drive has just crapped itself. I ran it as usual but it ran the default config as if I had just installed it... now i've 'lost' all my settings,add-ons,passwords etc. I take it they would still be around somewhere but how would get back my custom config!

You answered your own question...you'd restore it with your backup copy of your entire memory stick or the one you made with the PAM backup utility.

I don't have a backup copy... i had it installed on my hard drive
I keep a backup copy on my hard drive as well as my 2 portable drives (originals+backups). I just launch them every once in a while so the add-ons and themes can update.
