Does anyone here use Snag It from Tech Smith? It's an app I absolutely cannot live without. It would be nice if there were a Portable Apps version of this software. I use PA on my work laptop, which I am not allowed to install anything on (strict company policy) and PA works great for me in this environment!

As this has already been requested. I do not believe it is open source, but there is a program called Cam Studio which is open source and also portable, which you'll find from that link.

The original poster is looking for a screenshot program, not a program to make videos.
I recommend FastStone's Capture program. It's free for "home users" and works great. Get the "portable" version from the download page.

FastStone Capture is currently shareware, although not expensive at about $20US. The last freeware version was 5.3. You can still get the last free version at the portable freeware site.
download it I recommend the 1.1 release, and use it to portablize SnagIT.
