Solution for default-mail-client problem?

Hi!

I have the same problem as described here:

https://portableapps.com/node/490

Honestly said, i am not sure what to do. There are many suggestions in this thread and i don´t know what exactly to do? But since i think that many people use this portable-apps not only on removable storage, but also on their home-pc (as i do), i have a big suggestion: what about adding this point to the FAQ?! And of course i would appreciate if someone could explain me the exact changes in the registry for portable-TB to work as a default mail-client!

Thanks in advance!

Greetings, flipsns.

Okok, obviously this subject

Okok, obviously this subject is already so annoying that i won´t even get an answer. But what about my suggestion: if a question is so annoying, it´s obviously a "frequent asked question"?! So why not add it in the FAQ?

Furthermore i would be interested if it´s just technically not possible to make portable FF and TB the default software in Windows or if it has other reasons? In my opinion adding this feature (if possible) would be very useful and would go more with the idea behind a portable browser and mail client!

Greetings, flipsns

.

I think you can just right clink -> open with -> search -> choose PTB and PFF as default...

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

No, that doesn´t work.

No, that doesn´t work. It´s much more complicated (many registry entries to change manually). But it´s not important anymore. I switched back to the normal FF and TB. As long as it´s not possible to make the Portables the default application they are, unfortunatly, useless for me.

Ok,once more...

obviously You found the right node and you should have read the replies of a certain Mr.Haller,he seems to have some experience with portableapps.;)
So, DON´T set your portable apps to default because it´s the launchers that make them portable. If You set FF and TB as default, all apps on Your machine will point to the FF and TB in Your folder, not to the launchers. The launchers know where to look for Your portableFF/TB profile, else the apps will produce new profiles on Your machine and of course registry entries. That might be one cause for complaints of "having lost all extensions and settings in FFp" made in the forums. They´re not gone, it´s only the "wrong instance" running, i.e. the one using the new local profile .So there will be two different instances of Your FF/TB. Ok, You might copy Your portable profile on your local one, but still they´re different. Next,if You set Your portable apps on a USB flash drive as default they will constantly write on Your device and shorten its lifetime. There might be some issues with updating, so better install TB and FF locally for full comfort on Your machine. Directing to portableapps set as default causes registry entries anyway.Use portable FF/TB as Your portable office, sync function is provided by Toucan portable.
