The problem was raised before, but I'm in desperation and decided to make a solution myself.
Splash screens sometimes disappear too soon, sometimes too late because of fixed timeout.
Solution: Detect when the main application window shows up and hide the splash screen then. I think I can modify the NSIS plugin to make it work this way.

I'm looking for a hardware based secure flash drive. I'm currently looking at the Kingston Data Traveler Secure (Privacy Edition) 4Gb. Has anyone used one of these? Where do you recommend buying from in the UK - I usually use mymemory.co.uk but they don't sell the Privacy Edition.

I have recently read about the portable apps, site and just joined up. i have a USB flashdrive and, want to put the web surfing program on, but i don’t know which program to download to it. Can anyone help please?

Also can any one tell me about the Keepass password safe. program.

How do I go about removing an exe from the meny? I've got a few old games installed that have more than one exe in the folder, and I don't want them visible.

And can I rename them too? I _know_ they are portable when they are in and I am browsing the portable apps menu, I don't need to see it.

would it not be a good idea to have an auto update feature in portable apps launcher. (apart from for FF obviously)

I know this would be handy for me, and it could be done only for the official portable apps that appear here! at least something that tells you which ones are out of date.
auto updater would be even better, even if it just downloaded and ran the installers (for portables) in sequence.

i did search but couldnt find anything on the forum about the prospect of this

Hi, I have a dozen apps in my flash drive. I only want to delete one so I can add another one. How can I uninstall an app?

OS Win2k fully updated, Firefox 2.0.0.6, Open Office 2.2.1, Thunderbird 2.0.0.6, Zone Alarm 7.0.337 loaded + other apps.

When I tried to install POS 1.0 on a PNY Tech Attache 2G flash drive in N:\\PortableApps\PASuite with the downloaded .exe file in that location as well I received over 2300 errors in the log spread across all apps in the suite. The installed PortableApps (installed under PASuite by the installer) is 151 MB with 3,661 files in 529 folders. I also have the patch .exe, in the same PASuite folder, for OS's earlier than XP.

after having plug-in my usb key, with a lot of port applications, in a chinese computer running a chinese anti virus, the chinese anti virus did I dont know what in the usb key.

The result, when i use my usb key, I can still launch the 'StartPortableApps " but the folders disapeared... I can still access
the "video, music ..." folders through the portable apps menu, but cant access the portableapplication folder.

It doesn't appear to be in my usb key, although I know it's here because I can launch the applications.

Any idea to help me ?

Having a list with Portable Apps is great, however I noticed some 3rd party ones in the list like XAMPP and Mac-on-Stick are 3rd party releases. Maybe these releases should be kept in a seperate list. Why? Because maybe the portability is okay I don't know in how far it can be considered a completely compatible app for the PA Platform.

Putting Spybot on my usb stick makes PAM recognise all it's associated .exe files and list them on the menu. Is there any way to exclude certain .exe's from being listed?
