Is there a portable application available that will require a "sign-in" password before allowing PA suite to run? Would like to be able to lock the flash drive like the U3 drives.
As many of you I don't belong to Anglo-Saxon world.
I a Swede studying Slavic languages - it means - that I am word processing and using spreadsheets with in those languages. Hoping that the linguistic integrity of the files will be preserved.
Entering different foreign characters seamlessly is into AbiWord is as I understand not possible. You have to restart for each for each language that differs from preceding one. What about OpenOffice Portable ? Is different localization possible in a portable world ?

Is there a way to copy the u3 drive(both partions) from one flash drive to another one? Also the autorun would need to be preserved.
Im using Pstart and pam but want autorun to give me the option to open pstart or pam. so i can pick pstart if im at college cuz it has no icon try for pam, or open pam if im at home or something and i have an icon try.
thanks
right. im really really new to this portable applications thing but it seems like a really good thing. so ive used the trial of ceedo, read alot about u3 and am now using this nice portableapps thingy.
Anyone know why the off-topic posts aren't showing up in the tracker?

To change a drive letter upon insertion of usb is quite simple. Just one prerequisite: administrator.
So, you need a batch file with the following line:
diskpart /s %temp%\text.txt
and a text file saved as "text.txt" in your temp dir (%temp%) with the following lines:
select volume=F
assign letter=T
In this case, F is the current drive letter (F:\) and T is the drive letter that I want (T:\).
A New version of PStart has come out. Check it out if you have not already a few new features.
"31 May 2007
PStart 2.10 finally is available with plenty of new features and optimized for Windows Vista™ (still working with 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP). Other products are in work, so expect some more updates soon."

Hey everyone,
I have a SanDisk Cruzer micro 1Gb thumb drive. It's the non U3 version.
I can run portableApps.com apps and other executables off of it without a problem.
I was wondering what is so special about U3 - and even, what it is and does it do? (besides that it's another standard I guess)
I tried to put U3 Skype on my drive but it wouldn't let me, so I guess U3's standards are a little bit different other than just having an app not use the windows registry.
Can someone explain/point out some major differences between a regular smart drive and between a U3 one.
Thanks
