There are so many different audio formats and players that work with the PortableApps Platform... and I'm not quite sure which I should choose! How exactly do all the different player apps compare; and, especially compared to proprietary formats like mp3s, what differences are there between the multiple free formats that are supported by them?
Well. I suppose I should start somewhere. Please accept my humble apologies for all the lurking that I have been doing, but I feel that the recent issues regarding CAFE Mod/eXpresso should be adressed by myself. This came to a head for me when I read the feature Lifehacker wrote on the Lupo ripoff.
Kevin Purdy (Lifehacker)...according to [John T. Haller's] tests, Coffee appears to be a near-total copy of C.A.F.E... We apologize to the authors of C.A.F.E. for credit not given, and encourage you to grab the original.
Hi Folks
A coworker turned me on to Portable Apps over a year ago, and I think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
I've been using it on a USB + NAS drives and have turned others on to it's benefits and ease of use.
Great stuff, Thanks.
I have a question.
Is there, or is it possible to create, a "download picker" application (or add this function to the download page) which is a GUI with radio buttons (or something similar) which allows you to pick the apps you want in one "shopping list" and download them based on that list?
What do you think about better java support: It checks if in appinfo.ini the start value is a class or jar file and run it if java is found on the memorystick with it or if not it searches in the registry if java is installed and run it.
Its not that much code and I would love it
Hi!
The Sage RSS reader is currently part of the Applications list. Unfortunately, Sage has a serious and well-known vulnerability that could allow a user's system to be remotely compromised. The vulnerability has existed for over a year, so IMHO the Sage author(s) have been given plenty of time to fix it; they have not, and addons.mozilla.org is taking action against Sage.
Because of the vuln, the seriousness of it, and the length of time it's remained unpatched, I think Sage should be removed from the list of applications.
Pardon me if I put this into the wrong section, a mod can move to where need be if so.
I was thinking, What are all the possible things you can think of that you can('t) do with the Apache License 2.0?

I just got a 750GB portable hard drive, and I want to be able to backup my data to some of it (I've only got an 80GB hard drive in my PC), and run portable apps, store VM disks, and store old data on the rest of it. Best way to do this? Partitions? Folders?
Hi,
I have visited [link to illegal site removed by mod JTH] & was wondering if they were linked with your website? also they have a load of good apps on there that isn't on here, maybe you should get the same as them, they have things like photoshop & illustrator which you don't have, i was wondering if you were thinking of uploading them?
Thanx,
Charlie
Hi guys,
Ive just bought eee pc 1008ha and I straight away looked for some portable apps and here is my major issue:
Will SD card (i dont want usb stick) will be faster than my 2,5" 250gb hdd?
and if it were, is it worth buying more expensive 20/20 write/read card? than for example decent Transcend 12/18 write/read card? and how is it all in consideration of my eeepc card reader?
I'll appreciate every help
