Chrome new profile file

Submitted by farat_as on December 1, 2014 - 12:55pm

Hi,

It is not possible to use two instances at the same time on Chrome.

Thats why I start to use Chrome by giving it a user profile directory parameter.

I create a .bat file which includes this command:

E:\PortableApps\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\GoogleChromePortable.exe --user-data-dir="E:\MyPersonelData\ChromeUserData"

I have some question here. I would be happy if you can answer me:

1- When I start the .bat file, the command line windows is appearing. But it is not closing until any Chrome window closes. But want it to close itself. How can I make this?

Feature request - Clean up on update application

Submitted by rectitude on November 29, 2014 - 8:08am

Hi,

How annoying is it when you have rebooted windows without closing a portable application, only to find that a subsequent update does not "clean up"?

While the menu and associated apps are quite stable, I think a clean up should be performed when updating to save a problem, in between the time when an application is not being used.

Chrome auto installs (chrome portable installed)

Submitted by kontrol1portableapps on November 26, 2014 - 2:22am

Hi

I have chrome portable installed and updated with the latest version. But standard Chrome auto installs somehow on my system. It started recently.
It shows up on my desktop and pins to my task bar. Uninstalling won't work since it comes back up. I make sure not to use it.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks!

Chrome 64 bit Java plug-in

Submitted by oversky on November 22, 2014 - 5:12am

I install both Portable Chrome and Java 64bit.
But chrome://plugins/ dose not show Java is installed.
Java is installed in \PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java64.
Changing the directory name to \PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java solve the problem.
However, Portable LibreOffice needs Java 32bit version.
Can we have default Java 64bit directory in \PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java64
for all portable applications that require java 64 bits?

Whats On Your Drive?

I'm curious as to what portable programs others have that aren't offered in the PA directory. Here's my list, please share yours:

Emsisoft Emergency Toolkit\Anti Malware, Comodo Cleaning Essentials, MBAM Chameleon, Malwarebytes AntiRootkit, CCleaner, Decrap my computer, Decrapifier, and TightVNC.

I know they are probably not "true" portable apps and leave something behind. But I favor functionality on the road over privacy on my tech PA drive.
