How to get USB stick to autorun on Windows 7?

Submitted by jeffg1 on October 3, 2011 - 6:46am

As a newcomer, I have just installed PortableApps to a USB flash drive together with some of my favourite apps.

When I plug in the drive, Windows 7 thinks it just contains pictures for some reason and only gives me two options: "Import Pictures and Videos" or "Open folder to view files". Is there anything I can change on the drive to force Windows to autorun the Start.exe program?

PS: I did a search on 'autorun' first (of course!), but didn't find anything relevant.

I sumitted a problem of not opening the 2nd instance. The Admin told me to unclick Property / Start-stop Tab/ Open only 1 instance radiobuttn.

It worked but only 2 instances were opened maximum.

I installed normal version. It opened any number of instances.

Best USB drive for PortableApps ??

Submitted by deathwish on October 1, 2011 - 1:27pm

Hi, I am wondering what would be the best USB drive for use with portable apps. I am using a Sandisk Cruzer Contour which when bought was a very fast drive, but i am guessing it has been since overtaken by newer and faster drives.

The problem i have is that when ever i am using a browser in portable apps the performance can at times be a bit sluggish.

I don't want to spend a lot on a drive s it would only be for PA, but performance is essential.

Cheers in advance
