Ok, I've done numerous google searches, and kinda learned it was a virus and malware and such, but I'm not sure what it does in terms of to a flash drive. One of my teachers had a virus like that and when I inserted my drive into her computer, I think I caught it from her. On my computer, I couldn't autorun my PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 4 because Sophos said 'autorun.inf' and 'winlog.exe' were viruses.

I never had a virus before, so I don't know what the extent of the virus does... whether it just stays hidden in the root directory or if it goes through all the directories.

What's happened?

There used to be new applications being posted all the time, but in the last month, hardly anything at all.

Is this website slowly being closed down?

Network World On Tuesday, Microsoft was awarded a U.S. patent for "portable applications." The description of this innovative technology? Running an executable file from a flash device.

Does this mean anything to PortableApps.com over here? It mentions “portable applications that can be executed from a portable memory device (such as a USB flash drive) without impacting the configuration of the computer,” but also “can run an application on an attached computer solely from the flash drive.”

Does anyone know if the ftm executable that is supposed to be available "is available" elsewhere.

Ok. I got me an new laptop which is actually 10 years old but it has XP (SP2) and I wanna upgrade to SP3. I noticed it says to back up files before you install. But I have nowhere to back them up to. My friend says that if you don't back the files up, and your battery dies or your computer turns of in the middle of upgrading, you computer crashes and you might not be able to use your computer any more.

But will I still lose files if I don't back them up and complete the installation without my computer turning off?

I'm searching a good portable SVN client. I already tried SubCommander, SmartSVN (which I must buy to use the features I need -.-) and RapidSVN. But none of them is usable for me.

I'm currently using SlikSVN but it stores its settings and data in the AppData directory and in the registry. Maybe someone could get it portable?

Or does someone has a good tip for a portable SVN client?

Hi all I did a search and although I found lots of topics to do with Wine and a few sporadic posts about using PortableApps.com Platform/Apps with Mac OS X.
So I thought I'd start a thread incase anybody else was interested and also so any Q & A or info could be easily found and shared in one place.

Is source-forge broken I am getting 404 errors on all the Platform Download links, I have tried on two separate computers and with different browsers.

I need to convert a pdf to an excel .xls file. I tried Zamzar but it didn't convert it properly. It would be better if it integrates in MS office.
