UPX
Just wondered will UPX compressed files execute or response slower than the original file? My portable is a hard disk, not a flash drive, so I have plenty space to waste.

Any suggestions for a fully-functional portable calculator? I'm looking for one like Excalibur (with the same, or better range of functions). I was devastated when I found out that it wasn't portable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I just found out about all of this but is it possible to install oOo, gaim, Firefox, and thunderbird to one thumbdrive?
and if so how?
What good is a compression app on a portable drive? And if it is important, what are some really good compression programs?
I suggest using TypSoft Ftp server, I use it to transfer files between computer without configured network, and it work great. It even support resume and others greats features.

For a basic one ( only 116KB) try Baby FTP Server. it work great but has no resume.

For all you others, I hope you lose your flash drive...
For me, it's Portable OpenOffice.org, even if the size is huge...
I run xmplay as a portable audio utility. Give it a look.
I hear that the the life is drained with every write to the drive.
With apps like thunderbird (writing lots of mail) on my 1gb memorex traveldrive, even though i have a 2 year warranty, i'm curious if anyone know's how long a drive will typically last?

If anybody has a good word processor that does .doc and .rtf, yet is still small, please post it here. It can have limited functionality, but as long as it does the things listed above and has other needed features, I want to hear about it.
p.s.-I already know about PortableAbiWord, but I want something smaller. I also know about QJot, but that requires an install of it to be copied over to a USB stick.
