Site Slowdown Issues (December 2025) - Chinese AI bot DDoS

There have been some site slowdown issues in the last week. They often appear as the browser negotiating a TLC connection longer than usual, especially on a first connection to the site. This will either take far longer than necessary or timeout. This is unrelated to previous server downtime issues. It may be related to an increase in traffic due to AI bot scraping or similar. I'm working with Rackspace on log analysis as the issue has persisted even while we increase the workers available to processing connection.

Legacy Apps For Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 32-bit

I'm working on adding legacy builds of our officially-released apps that have dropped support for Windows XP, Vista, or 7 to the base app homepages. The goal is to make them easier to find for folks on legacy systems. I'm listing out completed packages and packages that are being researched and built below. The packages are designed to install alongside your main app installs and won't be updated to the latest version - breaking compatibility with your legacy OS - by the PA.c Platform. We don't need copies of any of the apps listed, thanks.

Welcome to the PortableApps.com outdated apps tracker. Please post a comment for any outdated official apps that aren't already listed with AppName Version as the title (no dashes, Vs or other text). Before posting a request, please make sure that their stable Windows build is available and they have been announced by their publisher (just being available on a download/ftp server, SourceForge, github, or 3rd party site doesn't count as the app may not yet be official). Comments will be deleted as they are added.

Serious spam problem by the likes of user "gatesfamily2003"?

Hi
I was shocked to find the forum flooded with posts from "gatesfamily2003", local time about 14:00 GMT. As a person who has run some discussion forums, I understand this. I suspect this site is Drupal CMS-based, which I am sure has some good anti-spam modules that could help.

How do I add any portable app to the PortableApps start menu?

Submitted by ShAmIs on June 17, 2026 - 3:40am

I've been meaning to add the game Factorio to the start menu in PortableApps. The game can be installed as a standalone portable app from their Factorio website, given that you have purchased a license for it.

It's been difficult to find various information and research about this topic. What are my options and what steps do I need to produce the result?

The Factorio executable directory resides in.

Factorio_[version]/bin/x64/Factorio.exe

As I understand it, the .exe file need to be in the root folder of Factorio for PortableApps to recognize it?

Passing file name with spaces as parameter

Submitted by Pingouin on May 20, 2026 - 9:29am

Hi,
I have searched this forum for any issues with spaces in names, and only see mentions of the path.
I have an app (PhotoFiltre) for which, if I pass an image file name as parameter, it will only work if the image file name does not contain any spaces (e.g. "test.jpg" will work and open once the app launched, but "some test.jpg" won't open after app launched).
I have added "NoSpacesInPath=false" in ini [launch] section, but unsurprisingly this does not help as I understand it to be for the app path, and it's false as default anyway.
