General discussions of portable apps and news.
in PortableApps land? Thank you.
I just wanted to clarify, because I use Iron Browser.
If I download Iron browser portable from their website, their forum users complain that the app isn't truly portable, that some files are written onto the C drive into some untraceable folder that can't be easily deleted.
When I use a browser app from Portable apps, is it all guaranteed to stay within it's own folder?
I wish to remove some apps from my console. I do a comparison on similar apps offered through Portable Apps and wish to only keep one of each kind at present. How might I remove from my console? Thank you.
I have been having strange problems with the latest official portable versions of OpenOffice, Firefox, and Thunderbird being used on the hard drive of a Vista PC and seeing the same problems on a Windows 7 PC. Incidentally, when I started using these Portable Apps about 5 years ago there was never a problem. I almost never use LibreOffice since it downgraded OOo's navigator in Write, but I've seen the problem on LibreOffice as well.
Periodically, any of those programs just freeze for no reason. The top bar says "not responding" and, if clicked on, the windows have a faded white overlay.
Hi There,
I have been tasked with creating a nice portable USB stick for all of our engineers to carry around with them when they go onsite and PortableApps is perfect for the job.
I have been asked by the higher ups that before I can create a load of these sticks for everyone how the licensing works, would it be okay in this scenario or would a license be required?
I understand this may be dependent on the apps being used but any help would be great!
Thank you in advanced!

I have a NextBook 10.1" Windows 8.1 Tablet. It has 32GB internal storage on C drive. I will be getting a 64GB MicroSD card for it shortly.
I plan to install some PortableApps to it such as Chrome, OpenOffice etc. Will there be any problem with Windows 8.1. Can I put a shortcut on my desktop and/or pin the app to the taskbar?
I unfortunately have a snail of a connection, until that improves I would like to use portable apps in the best possible format for speed.
Many things that I do require a lot of downloading and updating. Facebook Games for example are horrifically slow to load and update. Would it be advantageous to have a cloud based browser or one with a persistent cashe or both to save needed information until next session?!
Hello,
I've been thinking for quite some time now to make a switch to Linux, but what has always held me back was the lack of portable apps for Linux. I've been reading lately that WINE is getting better so was wondering if it's a feasible option to run various PortableApps via WINE on Linux? Would this actually provide a working solution or is it more of a one-time thing for apps that aren't available on Linux but one most really use?
After downloading Windows is telling me I do not have the permissions to open the file. I am lost as what to do
