Portable Firefox 1.5.0.4 PreRelease - Testers Urgently Needed

Ok guys... it looks like the trademark issues may be finally ironed out and I can get a new release of Portable Firefox out the door. I've posted a pre-release of the 1.5.0.4 release and there are a bunch of new things to test. Here are the fixes and new features to check out:

In-Place Upgrades - Portable Firefox now supports the ability to do what I'm calling an "in-place upgrade". This means that you can extract it right over an existing installation of Portable Firefox without losing any of your existing data and it'll Just Work (tm). You'll need an install of Portable Firefox supporting the split App/Data directories so PFF 1.5.0.2 or PFF 1.5.0.3 will work fine.

Portable FileZilla 2.2.24a Pre-Release

I've posted a quick pre-release of the upcoming version of Portable FileZilla. It adds in the an automatic backup-restore to ease upgrades. It also allows you to unzip Portable FileZilla directly over an existing installation. Please give it a try... specifically, testing that filezilla.xml is created from one of the backups in the settings directory if it doesn't exist... and that it is created from filezilla.xml.default if no backups exist.

Any comments or questions can be dropped right in this thread.

Portable Highlight

Submitted by Saalen on May 9, 2006 - 2:17pm

Highlight is a utility to convert source code to various output formats with syntax higlighting. A portable version could be nice for educational use (ie public hosts at universities). The original tool does not save stuff in the registry - only the writing of configuration files need to be observed.

The installer is 1.4 MB. It includes a PortableHighlight.exe

Minamp - Portable Winamp

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 7, 2006 - 2:01pm

Basicly, Miniamp is a shunken down version of Winamp 3 (yes, 3). Considering that the lite version doesnt install many v5 featues, I didnt see the point (and shaved a bit off the size). I've made the Configuration files (and the playlist) read only - to edit your preferences, give yourself write access (file properties) run winamp, and change what you need to.

The base install is 390KB, but this is with ionly the MP3 in, and wave out plugins. If you need more, grab them from your normal installation. ( Run them through UPX if your really short on space...)

Im not sure how many people are on here, so i'll post it somewhere elseso it doent screw me up Smile

Portable Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 Test Release

I've posted a test release of Portable Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 bundled with GPG and Enigmail (I'll be making packages available without them in the final release). This release sees a few changes:

1. Updated to use App/Data directories
2. Updated to newest GPG and Enigmail
3. Profile updating for GPG path
4. Registry key backup/restore to avoid "Would you like TB to be the default mail client?" issue on launch

The updated GPG/Enigmail settings and the registry key backup/restore is what needs the most testing. The registry backup is not done when AllowMultipleInstances is on due to conflicts.
