Data recovery

Submitted by wsm23 on November 16, 2006 - 10:28am

Well, I just got bit!

Plugged my SanDisk U3 1GB Cruzer Micro into my computer at work today and got.
-launchpad password box popped up and allowed me to enter my password.
-next message said drive F was corrupt and needed to be formatted before use.
-the launchpad would not open.
-I can open the drive F and see the files, but cannot launch any programs or copy any data.

I am attempting to use Drive Rescue v1.9d Drive Rescue v1.9d

Any other advice?

UPDATE
Making progress. I am going to check with U3 community forums to see how to re-install the U3 on my drive. The only program I really need there is Signupshield. It works great with IE and FF. I may have to go back to Roboform though if I cannot re-install U3.

Bought the 4GB USB drive on eBay. Had a problem received a RMA sent drive back on August 24. They received the drive. I still do not have a drive. No response from company except they gave my drive to someone who called them. I am out a drive and the money. Stay away from this company.

Computer is broken!

Submitted by rich.bradshaw on November 13, 2006 - 4:10am

Ok, totally off topic, but that is the point of this forum!

When I power on my computer everything sounds fine, lights come on, fan spins etc, but nothing is happening on the monitor.

I changed monitors. Still nothing. Monitor works with other PC.

I have the computer on my LAN, so I waited for it to boot into Windows so I could try pinging it to see if it is up. It's not. So, it's not booting into Windows.

Again, there is nothing happening on the screen, and there are no beeps or anything to suggest a hardware failure - I guess that it isn't even getting to the BIOS.

I took hard drive out of faulty PC and put into another PC, that works fine, and I was able to copy all the files onto another PC.

To cater for the ignorant

With the increasing number of posts asking questions a simple serach would have answered, why not have a fixed topic on the top of each forum to outline the "basic" rules of this forum? eg. Serach First, Don't ask when apps will be released etc.

I've seen this in many other forums, however i'm not sure if it can be done on this particular site. While I know this will not solve the problem, it may help the problem from becoming out of control.

Any thoughts?

PHP Developer Wanted

I'll admit it. I'm not what you would call an "advanced" PHP genius. (well, not with PHP at least Blum )

I'm looking for a PHP developer to help me on Lilina. There's just too much for me to do on my own, plus I have a lot of tests coming up, so I won't be able to work on it much. Your primary tasks will be integrating the next version of Magpie, cleaning up the code, documenting the code, adding features, finishing the new admin panel and adding plugin support (don't worry, I have to-do lists set up for this stuff).

Applications may be directed to my email, cubegames@gmail.com (yes, that's right. I don't care about spam any more.).

Wireless Forum

Submitted by wsm23 on October 24, 2006 - 1:34pm

Does anybody know of a good wireless networking support forum?

I am having trouble re-connecting my neighbor to my wireless router after a power outage.

I won't get anymore specific here unless John doesn't mind and someone is good with wireless.

Suspensed Domain: PortaSoft

What is up with that?
This account has been suspended.
Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources.

Anyone got any ideas and also:
Are there any apps which were still left on PortaSoft that we need, because I will host them.

The browser race is speeding up
JULIO OJEDA-ZAPATA

I love technology, but I'm fanatical about only a few things high-tech. Firefox is one of them.

The Web browser has always been an underdog to Microsoft's market-dominant Internet Explorer, but Firefox is vastly superior in features and usability. That's why it's my fave browser.

So I am excited this week because Firefox creator Mozilla Corp. is releasing version 2.0. (It's due to be available on Tuesday afternoon.) Its improvements aren't revolutionary, but I'm rooting for the increasingly popular program to maintain its momentum in a suddenly intensified browser race.
