PortableApps starts very slow

Submitted by PeteM92 on April 10, 2016 - 12:26am

PortableApps (currently version 13.0) starts very slow when I start it the first time after a reboot of my computer.
It takes more than 25 seconds, till the apps appear in portable apps window.
When I stop PortbleApps and start it a second time (and third time or even more often) without rebooting my computer inbetween, it takes only less than 2 seconds till apps appear.
What is the reason for this behaviour? I have switched off searching for updates, all of my apps and PortableApps platform are current versions.

Who's fault, programs asking for permission...

Submitted by rectitude on April 8, 2016 - 11:25pm

I only wanted to open a media file in VLC, and now i have to ask permission?

What is going on and why, it has never happened before i upgraded to Windows 10.

My portable apps have been updated along the way but this is unprecedented behavior I believe.

Updates and installation's error

Submitted by Soen51 on April 8, 2016 - 1:45pm

Hi folks,
I don't know why, but i couldn't receive any updates because when i clicked on "Search Updates", the platforms says to me that the Updating process were yet on processin.
Since that i couldn't update anything, I unistalled it but when I've tried to install it again, it shows me lots of error due to errors in extraction.
How can i solve it? It's happened yet but i formatted the pc so this problem solved "automatically"...

Please, it's very useful for me, it's the best way to use portable apps and to have them updated every time.

WSCC

Submitted by Portablist on April 6, 2016 - 12:42pm

It is really annoying that Portale Apps never upgrades WSCC to a new version!
It is only when you want to update the programs in WSCC that you get a message that there is a new version.
You have to download the new version yourself. Then it is a bit tricky to upgrade in Portable Apps...

Why remove old versions

Submitted by avada on April 4, 2016 - 1:19pm

Hi!

I wanted an old portable version of Foxit Reader. But I couldn't find it here. So I had to download it from an unknown, unfamiliar website. I ran into this issue a couple times before.

Why even remove old versions? There are many reasons one might need an old version.
In which case a portable version is highly desirable, so that one doesn't mess up the configuration for the newer version of the same software that's already installed on the system.
