Missing controls for video in VLC Media Player 2.2.1

Submitted by eager on August 6, 2015 - 12:39pm

Hi,

I noticed I have buttons along the bottom of the screen so I can pull the slider along to rewind a bit or fast forward or pause or stop for *audio* but not for *video.*

How can I apply that same slider for video?

All I can seem to do right now is right click on the screen and choose pause and stop.

I Googled this topic but could not find anything but keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks so much.

Chrome Portable as default browser: class not registered

Submitted by portableappsin on August 4, 2015 - 11:01am

Hi,

on my windows 10 PC (the problem existed also during windows 8.1 before the upgrade to 10) I am able to make Chrome portable as my default browser. Nevertheless, if I want to do a cortana search a window pops up which is titled as "openwith.exe" and says: "class not registered".

On my surface pro it works very well. I assume my registry is somwhow messed up but I have no clue which entry I have to fix. Do you have any tipps?

Can you install a printer in portable apps?

Submitted by Jenf on August 3, 2015 - 10:30pm

I am a teacher and I do not have administrator privileges on my computer. Tech will get to it ( I am still waiting from last school year-it isn't priorty.) I am trying to find a way to have a color printer at school so that I can come home and spend time with my family instead of printing at home.

Thanks,

Jen

really dumb question

sorry for language hangup ...

I think of a portable ap as something that doesn't install to Program Files, doesn't write to any hives etc.

I take it Portable Aps Platform is not a portable ap in that sense?

Are there any portable aps to help Portable Aps Platform build a bootable USB with a simplified OS to use as a PE/RE environment? with NTFS file system? which will run Windows-based portable aps?

thanks

Update and Sourceforge links are not working.

Submitted by JP_Boston on July 25, 2015 - 2:35am

Manual or automatic updates for firefox free download managers and other apps are not working. It seems anything with the narrower Download now linkbox does not work. Perhaps this will be fixed during the Portable apps site work. This is the first trouble I've had with Portable Apps.com hosted programs. I hope this is just a bump in the road. I prefer using Portable Apps to going all over to update my apps. Good luck.

Replacing SourceForge

Hey guys,

Due to recent controversy around SF.net, some ad blockers (uBlock for example) now prevent you by default from as much as visiting sourceforge.

I understand that there was no harm done specifically to Portable Apps project, but it is worth to think whether it is a good idea to host PA on a site that is widely considered harmful.

Bintray is a good alternative, worth exploring, and they are 100% free for open source apps.
