Gentlemen : "Azureus PAF" is now possible !

Submitted by ut165 on December 2, 2011 - 11:50am

For YEARS we have been in need of a open-source portable torrent-client .
Well, the walk in the desert is over !

http://wiki.vuze.com/w/Portable_Vuze
This SOLVES the problem that prevented Azureus from going PAF for years :
Az used to save the absolute path of running torrents,
pretty bloody useless for our purpose !

Combined with the portable Java, compressed with 'The Tool' (or even better 'K-jar')
and stripped of all the fat (the files that aren't really required, as described in one of the .txt-files inside java)
this makes for one serious portable torrent-client !!

Add a link in the front Page listing all the ways to Contribuite to PortableApps

Submitted by Marc27 on December 1, 2011 - 2:58pm

Stuff like Release Team Recruitment, Translators, and all the ways to contribute to PortableApps should be linked from the main front page for extra visibility. Maybe something like How to Contribute to PortableApps? or How to be part of? or Join... or Get involved aka Mozilla, that links to a page which lists all the ways to contribute pointing to developers and users.

How can I tell when a new app has been added?

Submitted by lewisbd on November 29, 2011 - 8:09am

Prior to the introduction of new platform, new apps were highlighted in a list as they became available. Currently, however, I can find no way to identify a new app. Obvioulsy when I click on "Get More Apps" I am presented with the Portable Apps Directory which lists all available apps other than the ones I have already installed. But there is no apparent way to distinguish apps that have been recently added from those that have been in the list for some time. Am I overlooking something or is this a feature that needs to be submitted as a future enhancement? Thanks. --B. Lewis

Virtual registry profiles, virtual desktop shell

Submitted by andrijas on November 23, 2011 - 9:13am

Is it possible to obtain some kind of shell that will load its local determined registry,so all apps started after, will R/W that transported virtual (in the moment real) registry.

Usage will be as virtual desktops or virtual profiles.
In that case, non portable apps will be part of one of virtual profile desktops...

Some backups of reg hives is needed, but is it possible with nowadays development of portableapps knowledge base to do this...(i hate MS declaration of profiles, registry nightmare)

auto-updater user configuratioin

Submitted by Snuffyspaw on November 18, 2011 - 4:04pm

Not sure if this is the right forum . . .

It would be nice to have a user defined option to delay updates through the auto-updater. In general, I don't like to be the first or the last on the block to update programs. I like to see if the update develops any problems before I install it. So maybe the ability to select "delay updates by x days after posting," or something like this
