i'd like to use all the portable apps from a networked PC.

I use my PC to connect to internet using a proxy server and it works fine.

but all my portable apps, with prosy set as IE7, won't work.

how can i make it run?

I tried to run the downloaded file in the root directory of my thumb drive (SimpleFlash Disk 2 GB), but receive the following error: 7z SFX has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I can furnish screen prints of the "more information" and "technical information" if that will help determine the problem and its solution.

I am interested in applications that can configured to run from a CD. My present employer and my previous employer both deny the ability to install application on work pc's and disallow connection of portable devices, but will allow CD's. I have found a number of applications that will work from CD, but would like to find more. I would really love to have the Portable Apps menu running from CD (havn't tried it yet).

what i want to do is to be able to use a flash drive with portableapps on either a windows,a mac or a linux machine. Do i need to make an executable file(s) of some sort?would i need put it on the flash drive
if possible i want it to automatically execute on its own

I don't know how the new PAM will handle the drive space but I have a suggestion.
In my VB6 version I used a picturebox control, and set picture to drive_space_slider.bmp(135x15 pixels)
On the form load I set the picture box width to
135-(drivefreespace/drivetotalspace * 135)
The drive_space_slider size should always be 135x15
The picturebox doesn't resize the image, it only displays as much as will fit in the box so you get the right size bar and no shrinking or stretching is required.

I have read here that a portable Linux will be soon released. I was wondering if you are talking about Ubuntu.

Hey, everyone. Just wanted to ask, how do you uninstall the PortableApps program after having installed it on your USB drive? I've installed the Base Edition (the one with the menu and that's it), however, no I'd like to uninstall it. I find no suitable uninstall program, and deleting everything didn't work either. Help!

I recently installed PortableApps by way of installing the base program and then selecting a few applications to use. When I attempt to execute the menu I get the following error message:

"PortableAppsMen.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

1. Where is the log located?
2. How can I correct this problem?
