Express Update Install Request

Submitted by Tenzen on June 9, 2016 - 8:42am

I haven't updated in awhile, and I've spent the last 3 days trying to get everything updated. Its been a big pain.

Problem is I go to sleep and wake up to find a T&C window sitting on my desktop which has stopped progress at like 10%..this has happened 2 nights in a row, its ridiculous.

I would like the option to NOT update apps that require accepting of special walls of text.

Or Portable Apps should group all the updates for apps requiring Accepting Licensing Aggreements in the beginning of the update.

Apps Master List

Submitted by Tenzen on June 8, 2016 - 9:37pm

Is there a master list of apps that can be added to Portable Apps?

I noticed some other apps on this site are listed as available for Portable Apps, but they're not available from within Portable Apps, such as GFIE..

So is there a list somewhere of all the apps available?

And are all Portable Apps apps work without admin privileges, as a standard feature?

Will app syncs collide with cloud drive syncs?

Submitted by mindea on June 8, 2016 - 9:34am

I have PA running on two computers in my office. I usually have Thunderbird open on both them. If I were to put PA on OneDrive (which is installed on both computers), would OneDrive's file syncing of the PA folders get "confused" with Thunderbird's email syncing with my email service? Would one take precedence over the other or would they collide and cause corruption? I'm wondering the same thing about Firefox and Chrome's bookmark and password syncing (which I do via XMarks)

PA for converting M4A files into mp3 files in folders?

Submitted by fefrie on June 1, 2016 - 2:45pm

I just started with iTunes for podcasts and I discovered that most if not all files are in m4a. My little mp3 player doesn't do m4a files.

I have all my podcasts episodes split across 600 folders, randomly named so that I get a nice mix of podcasts.

I just discovered the m4a issue and don't want to manually drag and drop files into a program.

Is there a program that does it with the same functionality as a similar program such as Remove Empty Directories?

Hallo,
where can i start a topic of the beginning the PortableApps (PA) to work.
When i start PA my whole Desktop clears out.
The Tsakbar, the Taskbar Icons, the Quicklauch bar and the Windows Icons in TAskabar are not removed, only the main Desktop.
The workaround id to delete the 1st Explorer Task and nmanually restart the Explorer.
After the restart all Desktop rebuild properly.
Thanks for advise

How smart is using Mollom?

Submitted by getco on May 31, 2016 - 12:06pm

I see you use a service called Mollom to filter messages submitted in this forum. But how smart is it to use a 3rd party that stores all messages submitted by a particular person on all forums (that use Mollom) all over the internet? It's like giving big brother all your ideas and thoughts on a silver platter... I'm personally shocked that such a service exists let alone is being used by PoartableApps!

Voice chats Light on resources/quality

Submitted by DADSGETNDOWN on May 29, 2016 - 7:23pm

I did search, and many pages and a lot of reading about team speak and skype and all that. What is the suggested app or program like old Roger Wilco or Team speak or even the Instant messaging programs I can use for multiple people a small amount 4 to 10, to voice chat while playing video games like Quake 3 arena, COD and such, that are light on resources, don't mess with frame rates, decent quality, easy to use for the people I am going to setup/introduce. Most of us have OLD crummy computers. P.S I have an OLD post about this, wasn't sure to add to it or do this...
