I know this has been extensively discussed before, but bear with me ...

Prior to using PortableApps, I had a U3 stick. I had this configured so that when I inserted it, it prompted me for a password which, if entered correctly, allowed everything to start up normally. It's my understanding that without the correct password the drive could not be mounted/read - only reformatted. This all worked fine until U3 eventually became dead-in-the-water.

I was thinking that perhaps somebody would want to make a PortableApps youtube channel, with videos like making your own Portable App, installing, and other tutorial stuff.
The only problem is that youtube only assigns one person per channel, which means the login would have to be shared, which is a bad thing.
So, who's in?

I've noticed within the last week that my connections to ircq.net from pidgin are refused. I do not have that problem with MIRC. Any one else experiencing this? Any work around?

My device is a Pretec i-Disk Bulletproof 16GB and my PC is running on Windows 7 (64-bit).

First I downloaded PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_1.6 on my PC and then installed it as instructed on my USB-device. This worked as intended and by runnin the program I got the "start menu" screen as I should.

I am writing this in general forum because I couldn't find one for DOSBox Portable.

Here is a problem that I have discovered. I am trying to play Amulets and Armor using DOSBox Portable, and there is no sound.

When I use DOSBox directly (Apps\DOSBox\dosbox.exe), there is sound.

In both cases, SoundBlaster is detected.

This happens with Amulets and Armor, but not with many other games (like Tyrant, PC-MAN, Alley Cat etc.)

Kindly ask if any more information is needed, since I am a newbie...

Panda will create a password protected autorun.inf file so viruses cannot modify it.

I don't know how well this works, or weather I could screw up portableapps as I use linux and haven't tested. But its something to look into, and maybe even make a portableapps spinoff of it?

I've been using the site and its apps for a while and want to firstly say thanks. I have a 16Gb Kingston DataTraveller that has been travelling around with me for a few months. Everything was going fine until a few days ago after connecting the OS can't read the filesystem.
Formatting is not an issue as I've been uploading periodic backups to my own webspace. However, I can't format the disk without administrator privileges using standard windows means (from the dialogue that prompts after a failed read or in console). No permissions for disk manager.

Can i change portableapps menu, or is there away to organize it. For example all of openoffice/pdf programs in program group called >Office. Something like this:
