No tray version of PAM?

Submitted by phate on July 23, 2007 - 11:54am

I work in an enviroment where I can use the portable apps but the problem is I can only launch one instance of any one program. The problem actually is that they have locked down the systray so that it only shows the time and I can't change it and I guess PAM likes to minimize to the tray which doesn't show its icon and the only way to run it again is to completely log out and relog in.

My basic question is this: is there away to prevent PAM from minimizing to the tray and just staying open?

My Implementation...

Hi,
John, just wanted to thank you for a fantastic applicaiton(s) ad wanted to share how I use the Portable apps. It's starting to replace my home computer.

I've installed PortbleApps to my my 2GB SD card in my Palm TX. There is a nifty palm app called Card Reader that will allow the palm to essentially act as a card reader, making the SD card appear as a drive in Windows. (not sure for other OS's)

Calling all Slingboxers! SlingPlayer "Just Works" as a portable app :-)

(Disclaimer: This may or may not be old news, but I did a forum search and didn't find any mention at all of this.)

SlingPlayer works fine perfectly off a USB device, and thus in PortableApps. All you have to do is copy the "SlingPlayer" folder from (by default) "C:\Programs Files\Sling Media" to the device, or the "PortableApps" folder.

Here's what your Portable Apps Menu will look like...

PA Logo

Hi John,

Any way we can get the option to move the PA logo to the bottom of the menu(or have it moved) so we can take advantage of that large banner area for our PA themes? Do not want to remove the PA logo. Thanks.

Categorizer - A cheat to get "grouping" support out of PA

Submitted by maggotb0y on July 19, 2007 - 2:45pm

I've written an application that can be run within the context of the PortableApps menu to display a dropdown list of applications installed in a subdirectory under PA. This will allow those of us who are impatient for the next version of PA to have some category support for now.

Here's a screen shot (read the full post for a link to the software).

About ELMA (game)

Submitted by Wikzo on July 19, 2007 - 7:20am

Hi

Just installed the PortableApps. Great software!

Now I want to play the game called Elasto Mania (ELMA). It is a simple motorcycle game for Windows. I know it is not open software.
http://elastomania.com/

I have tried to make a folder in my Appsfolder in USB drive. I install the game fine, but when I try to open it, I get this error message:

ELMA.RES file is missing!

When I look in the folder it contains these folders:

Lev
Lgr
Rec
ELMA
Readme + Uninstall
And a file called "Elma.res"

Why can't I play the game when the folder contains the RES file?
