Hi There,

I have been tasked with creating a nice portable USB stick for all of our engineers to carry around with them when they go onsite and PortableApps is perfect for the job.

I have been asked by the higher ups that before I can create a load of these sticks for everyone how the licensing works, would it be okay in this scenario or would a license be required?

I understand this may be dependent on the apps being used but any help would be great!

Hello Im Trying To Make A Script That Arranges The User Desktop And That on Exit Returns The Old Desktop Back How Can I Achieve This ?

Is there a build in mechanism like for the auto start-up is there an auto exit?

is there a best practice for this ?

I have a NextBook 10.1" Windows 8.1 Tablet. It has 32GB internal storage on C drive. I will be getting a 64GB MicroSD card for it shortly.
I plan to install some PortableApps to it such as Chrome, OpenOffice etc. Will there be any problem with Windows 8.1. Can I put a shortcut on my desktop and/or pin the app to the taskbar?

I unfortunately have a snail of a connection, until that improves I would like to use portable apps in the best possible format for speed.

Many things that I do require a lot of downloading and updating. Facebook Games for example are horrifically slow to load and update. Would it be advantageous to have a cloud based browser or one with a persistent cashe or both to save needed information until next session?!

I've been thinking for quite some time now to make a switch to Linux, but what has always held me back was the lack of portable apps for Linux. I've been reading lately that WINE is getting better so was wondering if it's a feasible option to run various PortableApps via WINE on Linux? Would this actually provide a working solution or is it more of a one-time thing for apps that aren't available on Linux but one most really use?

After downloading Windows is telling me I do not have the permissions to open the file. I am lost as what to do

I got 3 email notices for one reply to my post https://portableapps.com/node/43181. Just letting the admins know.

The emails were marked exactly 5 minutes apart:
1:15, 1:20, 1:25.

The body of all 3 was identical (that I can see).

In the last few PicPick versions, word wrap in the "add text" box doesn't work.
It worked in versions (like 3.3.4) before they changed the editing toolbar & put the "enter text" icon *inside* the box with other shapes (circles, rectangles).

Now, I have to enter hard returns in the text editor, so lines of text don't run past end of the box on the image.

And if you've entered a few lines, then add / delete some text, it doesn't re-adjust the wrapping in the actual text box on the image. In v3.3.4, that feature (still) works.

For the past few minutes, I've been trying to close the Portable Apps platform but when I click exit it says,"The following portable apps are still running: FILENOTFOUND. Please close all portable apps and try again. How could I fix this?

I like to express my disappointment that the promised more integration of portableapps into windows hasn't happened

I (Ian) donated $100 when this was expected 2+ yrs ago ..

and I would have donated another 100$ when it was released

it was said that the code for win7 was nearly done.

win 7 is nilly finished and I'm starting to feel like I've bin screwed over!
