Possible directory layout changes

I don't normally like to post development stuff to the general forums, but as this will affect users of all the apps in general, I thought I would mention it here. I'm considering altering the directories used by the apps to streamline them a bit. I've posted about it here:

Please post any thoughts or comments to that thread.

µStart 1.3 released

Submitted by Klonk on April 21, 2006 - 10:21am

Hi,
I created a small application called µStart. It works as a application launcher. But you can also open other files (e.g. .DOC) or other folders on your drive.

It is quite similar to PStart, but it is much smaller (only 68k) and has no fancy stuff (like application icons, maybe they will come in a later version) or notes functionality.

All path informations are stored as relative paths. It also allows to start applications automatically on launch and also to close most of them automatically.

On my homepage is a detailed (german) description, but µStart itself is english. You can at least take a look at the screenshots.

PSpice Schematics

Submitted by cyberdude on April 21, 2006 - 2:25am

Does anyone know of any portable software like PSpice (just the schematics part). This is circuit design software used commonly in electrical, electronic... engineering. I basically just need software to draw circuit diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Outtage: Sorry bout that

Had a corrupted permissions table that needed fixing in the database. Took a while to figure it out.

Seems it started earlier in the day and came to a head a little while ago. If you notice any other issues, please let me know.

John

Hi,

I would like to change the splash screen in firefox, fillezilla, and add one in thunderbird which doesn't have.
Is it possible with an exa editor like portableXNRE or is it just a .ini to change or a xml....
Thank yopu in advance, And thank you again for your contribution to the free software community.

Portable Apps and mobile phones

Submitted by sblandin on April 19, 2006 - 7:49am

Hello everybody,

I don't remember if this issue has already been posted here. I was wondering about the possibility to carry portable apps on the memory card of a mobile phone.
I am planning to buy someday a new mobile phone and I was wondering if when connecting one to a Personal Computer, the latter can see the memory card directly or if you always have to pass through some sync software.

Do you have any idea?

Thanks

Using SyncToy to backup memory sticks

Submitted by asmith3006 on April 19, 2006 - 6:52am

Hi.

Is there a way of using ms SyncToy to backup my memory stick? I know how to launch a "folder pair" from the command line and have PStart run that as an option, but my memory stick changes drive letter (obviously) so is there any way of passing the drive letter to sync from into SyncToy?

I know it's worded badly, but you probably get the drift...

Thanks.

Andrew.

Email Client Questions

Submitted by tmm0f5 on April 19, 2006 - 12:56am

Hello All,

I was wondering if someone could help me find a suitable portable email client for use with a USB drive.

Currently I have 4 email accounts. One personal account with POP3&IMAP support, a work account (POP3), a separate personal account for SPAM (POP3), and a second work account (POP3). I manage the first 3 with Outlook Express on my home PC and the 4th through the gmail website.

Ideally I would love to have the email client only SYNC with these accounts such that it leaves all the email either on the server or available for my home Outlook Express. Therefore when I SYNC in the morning, I would have access to whatever is at home. However I would have the comforts of an email client while away at work. But throughout the day it would leave everything on the server so when I get home I can still use Outlook Express and have my messages.
