Temporarily for Firefox 55, or generally; permanent download links for previous versions

With the new Firefox 57 released yesterday (2017.11.14) very many addons/extensions will stop working. Since many of them are important personal efficiency tools, and it may take a while to either get new/updated versions (if at all), or find alternatives, I suggest that PortableApps for a while provide an extra, direct download link to version 55 (not 56, as some extensions already stopped working in that version).

I suggest making a "custom block" in the sidebar on the main Firefox page:

Testdisk/Photorec/QPhotorec

Submitted by SGB74 on November 14, 2017 - 4:28pm

I would like to see Photorec/QPhotorec added to the list of apps as well, I also believe it has a higher recovery rate than the current recovery apps offered on this site. Its already portable in its current state, i use it with my portable apps drive. Is there any chance of seeing this happen? Or will admin privileges be an issue?

more GNOME/GTK+ and KDE/QT based apps

Submitted by theliquidmetal on November 12, 2017 - 8:51pm

Hello Guys

I have found many apps based on GNOME/GTK+ and KDE/QT already included in portableapps platform. That's great!

Why don't we expand it with more and more apps, especially those already ported to Windows.
Some of them are:
* Kdenlive (QT)
* DigiKam (QT)
* KDevelop (QT)
* GCompris (QT)
* Amarok (QT)
* OpenShot (QT)
* Shotcut (QT)
* Audacious (QT)
* PSPP (GTK+)
* Darktable (GTK+, recently ported)
* Pinta (GTK+)

Newsleecher 7.0

Submitted by plato on November 7, 2017 - 3:08am

Hi,

As you may know version 7.0 FINAL has no registration requirements. So you can use it with some limited features. Also it seems it's possible that you could make an installed version portable like this:

by nonspin » Thu Oct 26, 2017 4:21 pm

This gets you pretty close to "portable"

create a file called "newsleecher.ini" right next
to newsleecher.exe

Use the below variables to redirect the folders..
Let's say your K: drive is your

create two folders (i recommend the "_" to have them above)

EXIF Editor by ColorPilot

Submitted by SurplusGadgets on October 27, 2017 - 12:30pm

IrfanView nor XN View support editing the EXIF information in JPG files. Win10 does not support editing the time portion of the Data Taken field of the EXIF information (or basically, many of the fields). Cannot find an App in PortableApps that allows editing EXIF information. EXIF Pilot / Edit does seem to allow editing all EXIF information and seems may work in a portable environment (i.e. not install). Sent a note to their developers as well. http://www.colorpilot.com/exif.html

Unused image files detector

Submitted by slworden on September 21, 2017 - 1:22pm

If this portable app already exists, please direct me to it because I did not find it in my initial search, but I am looking for a portable app that will let me look at the files we use for our website and let me know if there are any image files in that folder that are no longer being used. I'd like an easy way to find them and either remove them or place them in a separate folder.
