PCSX-DF portable request

I have been talking to OlverK and Zach about making a portable version of this famous Playstation 1 emulator. There was some problems compiling it because compiling requires some obscure libraries.

If it does succesfuly get compiled i wonder if it will actualy be possible to get it so it doesnt write to the main hard drive or registry.

The other topic is the legality of the BIOS that is needed for maximum compatability with PSX games. my opinio is that it will/should not be posted here.

the plug ins are another Grey area. Should they be included or not and which ones?

Vulsearch

Submitted by davemuaddib on September 11, 2008 - 4:11pm

As a student of the Latin Vulgate, I would love to see a portable version of Vulsearch for the Vulgate Latin Bible as compiled by Michael Tweedale. http://vulsearch.sourceforge.net/gettext.html Vulsearch is already free program, so the licensing issues shouldn't a problem. It would just be a matter of Dr. Tweedale being interested perhaps in a portable version of his software.

Launcher for Personal-Backup

I wonder if anyone would be interested in creating a launcher for Personal-Backup. It can be found here http://personal-backup.rathlev-home.de/index-e.html.

I don't believe it is OSS, (the legal stuff is in German) so (as I understand) only a launcher could be released, but it is free and gives instructions on how to run from USB with command-line options.

While I use Toucan there are always different strokes for.. you know.

Just a suggestion.

Nmap/Zenmap

Submitted by hm2k on September 11, 2008 - 8:08am

Nmap is a very useful network tool. It is an open source security/port scanner, released under GPL.

The project is very active (last release was 4 days ago at time of writing).

Zenmap is the GUI interface to Nmap.

The only major issue is that much like wireshark, Nmap requires the winpcap driver.

I see quite a few threads requesting Nmap/Zenmap (https://portableapps.com/search/node/nmap), yet we've still not got an official release.

I'd like to see one...

KRDC

Submitted by robojerk on September 10, 2008 - 6:02pm

KRDC is an KDE graphical client for the RFB Protocol used by VNC.
If rdesktop is installed, krdc can also connect to Windows Terminal Servers using RDP.

I know some people have already suggested getting some QT and KDE applications working as portable apps. One of the tools missing from my portable apps tool chest is a remote desktop application.
