Damn Small Linux

You can download the Damn Small Linux embeded (Guest os) version from here.

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/damnsmall/current/dsl-...

Damn Small Linux is a very versatile 50MB mini desktop oriented Linux distribution.

Damn Small is small enough and smart enough to do the following things:

* Boot from a business card CD as a live linux distribution (LiveCD)
* Boot from a USB pen drive
* Boot from within a host operating system (that's right, it can run *inside* Windows)

App Suggestion - semi-transparent on-screen ruler

Submitted by jkic47 on March 30, 2008 - 3:53pm

Sorry guys - and thanks for showing me how to move my misplaced post here.

Found a portable semi-transparent on-screen ruler here: http://www.download.com/On-screen-Ruler/3000-2192_4-10520256.html?tag=lst-1

Being semi-transparent, i can easliy see what i am measuring (pixels, inches, cm). And being able to nudge it is useful.

Here's the blurb from downloads.com:

Teeworlds

Submitted by RaYell on March 29, 2008 - 2:52pm

Teeworlds is a great multiplayer game and I would love to see it portable. The game puts setting files in %USERPROFILE%/Application Data/Teeworlds. I tried to make it portable myself but I couldn't get it to work so I hope one will have better luck.

Teeworlds is open source and it can be found on http://teeworlds.com

Direct Access to files within the USB

Submitted by javier10l on March 29, 2008 - 10:55am

More than a program is a suggestion (sorry if this is not where it should be), if one could take into account the functionality of the 'Remora USB Quick Launch' (http://www.richskills.com/products/5/freeversion. asp), with which we can show as configuring direct access Word files (.doc), Excel (.xls). Only by putting the vast extension (*.pdf, *.doc, *.exe, *.ppt) and automatically looking inside your USB and our direct access within a folder whose name is the original folder that contains this file.

SubCommander

Submitted by ShaRose on March 28, 2008 - 10:19am

Well, I have been looking for a portable SVN client for a while. I know about RapidSVN portable, but that seems to have died. I really only needed it for this laptop (which I don't have admin on), and I found SubCommander. After looking at it, it seems to only save settings in my documents, and none in registry (that I could find). I figure it wouldn't be that hard to get this as a true portable app. It's open source as well (Under the GNU), so there should be no legal issues.

Google Pinyin for Chinese Input

Submitted by lele on March 28, 2008 - 4:09am

Google Pinyin Chinese Input proves to be very handful and small to handle, not taking up a lot of resources, rams, memories. Unfortunately, not all computers have that installed. Therefore, if it can be converted or developed for portable devices, it would be great. I know it takes a lot of time and energy to do this kind of work, but thanks and thanks very much.

Appreciate your open source/freeware contribution.

Keep it up, guys.

The world without you is worse.
