Jajuk

Submitted by rlloyd1975 on December 25, 2007 - 4:06pm

Jajuk is a Music organizer and a great one in my opinion. pLus its free and platform independent.

Jajuk is fairly portable with the exception of that when Jajuk is first run it places a file called ".jajuk_bootstrap" in your user folder. This file then tells Jajuk where your workspace is (which contains the db for you music location, etc..)

I am knew to programming, and still trying to figure this whole making your own portable stuff..

I would love to see this app in a true portable format...

I was surfing the forum and found a link to another web that show me a software called Protect Exe 0.4 beta. I still need to check for license, but most of the software in that page is open source so I think it's not a problem...

This program encrypt and password protect exe files... yes, I know is not "the best solution" but I think is something to help protect our PApps.

Serials 2005

Has anyone thought of trying to make a portable version of Serials2005?

It's closed-source freeware. I use it on my home computer to store all of my software serial info. It makes it much easier than keeping up with all of the papers themselves. It would be nice to be able to run this from one of my flashdrives, as I tend to to a lot of reloading of software and os's.

Audiobook Cutter

Submitted by millarrp on December 23, 2007 - 10:02pm

I stumbled across this app on sourceforge and thought it looked interesting. It's a standalone app that automatically splits up large mp3 files.

It's open source and written in C++.

http://audiobookcutter.sourceforge.net/

I realize that Audacity can manipulate mp3 files, and based on the website this app is already portable, but I think it would be a nice app to have in .paf format

I know of virtualdub but it's too complicated for me and it can't burn dvd's (if it can I have no clue how).
I went onto Sourceforge and found Vivia ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/vivia/ )
and Avstodvd ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/avstodvd/ )
Neither of them depend on virtual machines.
I have searched the web, as well as this site and portablefreeware.com for an easier version of virtualdub.

LyX

Lyx is a great latex editor which I find essential for writing math and engineering, It requires a basic miktex system, gsview, imagemagick, and aspell spell check dictionary. I forget what else. Would be great if it were portable.

ExplorerXP

Submitted by Devo on December 21, 2007 - 2:14pm

I use this program (ExplorerXP) and like the tabbed interface. I would like to use it from my flash drive. I searched and found it on portablefreeware.com. It was a wrapper for the application and linked to mi3soft.info. The owner of the site no longer has the wrapper on his site and I cannot find another site that has the wrapper available for download. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get the wrapper, or if someone can make another one. I would make one, but I have no idea how to.

Thanks
